Sebastian (Seb) is a geographer and Senior Technical Strategist, whose expertise spans spatial analysis, geospatial technology, and environmental applications. He works across disciplines to help strengthen technical innovation and develop new approaches to challenges we face in our work on wildfire resilience, environmental flows, habitat connectivity, and landscape-scale conservation planning. Seb’s career began in environmental GIS and watershed analysis, working with scientists and resource managers on aquatic ecology, riparian systems, and urban stream management. His work later expanded into large-scale geospatial technology and systems at Apple, where he helped design and build mapping products used around the world, followed by leadership roles focused on design, engineering integration, technical systems, and organizational development. He brings these experiences together at Stillwater, helping strengthen technical approaches, workflows, collaboration, and the development of new capabilities across the firm to advance our work on complex environmental challenges. Outside of work, Seb creates hillshade maps of places he loves, particularly across California and the Cascades, and spends as much time as possible hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and exploring the region’s plants and wildlife. He is also an enthusiastic tinkerer, continually finding things to build, design, or figure out with code and technology.
