Board of Directors

Board of Directors

Stillwater Sciences is currently governed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of senior Stillwater staff and appointed outside directors. Outside directors were invited to join based on their leadership in our industry and their commitment to support scientifically based, practical, and cost‐effective approaches to analyze environmental systems, solve complex natural resources management problems, and restore ecosystems. Our purpose in recruiting outside directors is to obtain fresh perspectives, expand our thinking, and guide us into a robust and self‐sustaining future. We anticipate that future outside directors will help open growth opportunities through their professional networks and knowledge of the environmental consulting industry, help guide management of our ESOP (e.g., distributions, repurchase obligation, etc.) as we continue to mature, and help evolve our path towards sustainable growth and opportunity for our employee‐owners.

Our current Board of Directors includes the following:

Christine Champe
Arcata, CA
Co-Founder; Board Director since 1996

Christine’s work at Stillwater has included wildlife surveys, project management, and editorial review. Christine became a registered nurse (RN) in 2018 and works part time at a Humboldt‐area hospital and part‐time at Stillwater. Christine earned her Master’s degree in Wildlife and Range Sciences at the University of Florida.

Waite Dalrymple, PE
Tumwater, WA
Board Director since 2017

Waite co‐founded Parametrix, Inc., a consulting engineering and environmental science firm with offices in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and New Mexico with 650 employees. He served as the CEO from its founding in 1969 until he retired in 2001. He continues to serve as Chair of Parametrix’s Board of Directors. Waite led Parametrix through an ownership transition to a 100% employee‐owned ESOP, was a Director for the ESOP Association (2005–2009) and participated in the Employee Ownership Foundation (2000–2010, including Board Chair for four years). He also currently serves as Board Chair for BL Companies, a 400‐person engineering, environmental, and architectural firm in the Northeast. His extensive experience within the ESOP community has provided valuable expertise for Stillwater’s transition to an ESOP. Waite received his master’s degree in Environmental Engineering Technology/Environmental Technology from Washington State University.

Sapna Khandwala
Berkeley, CA
Board Director since 2018

Sapna has been working in the environmental field for over 20 years, most of it at Stillwater. She began her career at Stillwater as an intern, supporting various wildlife field studies and project management activities. She led Stillwater’s successful marketing and business development efforts after the 2008–09 recession, began overseeing operations of the company in 2014, and was appointed CEO of Stillwater in 2015. Sapna’s long tenure filling roles at all levels within the company, and her active networking with leaders at other firms, provide her with insight for creating programs and nurturing cultural norms that motivate staff. Sapna received her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Norma Camacho

Board Director since 2021

Norma recently retired as Chief Executive Officer of Valley Water (Santa Clara Valley Water District), whose mission is to provide safe, clean, water for Silicon Valley. Prior to that, she held several positions at the Ventura County Public Works Agency. Norma’s passion for developing multi-benefit collaborative solutions to benefit both the environment and communities makes her a wonderful resource and champion for Stillwater’s growing work in more urban ecosystems and her long and successful career in water resource management provides Stillwater with “client-side” insights for Board discussions. In addition to serving on Stillwater’s Board of Directors, Norma was appointed to the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board in January 2022.  Norma holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University.

Lisa Larrabee

Prior to that role, Lisa served as COO of Jones & Stokes (which was acquired by ICF in 2008), a premier environmental planning firm. Lisa’s career in and passion for the environment are in deep alignment with Stillwater Sciences’ purpose. Additionally, she is an advocate for employee ownership having led these other ESOP companies. She brings decades of experience in corporate governance which will help Stillwater achieve its vision and strategic plans. Lisa’s academic focus was physical geography, and she received an MS from the University of Utah and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
