Maia Singer, PhD

Senior Aquatic Ecologist/Water Quality Scientist

Maia has over 20 years of experience in aquatic sciences and engineering spanning water quality, river restoration planning, ecology, and water treatment. She specializes in mercury biogeochemistry, limnology, wetlands ecology, restoration planning, and aquatic habitat assessment. Her wetland expertise includes independent research on nitrogen oxide gas fluxes from wetlands, denitrification optimization of treatment wetlands using plant carbon sources, and selenium and mercury biogeochemistry in wetlands. Since joining Stillwater Sciences, Maia has also studied and applied fisheries biology, avian biology, and freshwater macroinvertebrate monitoring techniques to river systems below dams. Maia leads Stillwater Sciences’ coordinated effort to integrate climate change science into our holistic watershed analysis approach, including tracking and application of continually evolving climate change predictive tools and data resources.
