
Owen Cancroft
Geomorphologist
Owen is a Geomorphologist who loves both working and recreating on rivers. Originally from Long Island, New York, he has worked on rivers, tidal marshes, and estuarine systems across California. He holds a B.S. in Earth Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and is currently finishing his M.S. in Geosciences at San Francisco State University, where he models the impact of dam releases on river temperatures and Chinook salmon habitat in the San Joaquin River. Before graduate school, Owen worked as a hydrologist and geologist in Northern California, specializing in field data collection, geomorphic assessments, and restoration planning. Outside of work, Owen volunteers as a whitewater raft guide and enjoys trail running and baking homemade pizza.
