
Eric Sommerauer
Fisheries & Wildlife Biology
Eric is a biologist with diverse experience in the freshwater and marine environments. His areas of expertise include fisheries, water quality, field planning, desktop research, and report preparation. He has worked with species such as Sacramento winter-run and Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon, Central Valley steelhead, delta smelt, longfin smelt, foothill yellow-legged frog, and western pond turtle. Eric has extensive experience in fisheries surveys (electrofishing, beach seines, gill netting, trawls, snorkel surveys), fish rescues, habitat mapping, amphibian surveys (including visual encounter surveys for egg masses, young-of-year, juveniles and adults), plankton sampling, and the use of water quality instrumentation. Prior to joining Stillwater Eric worked as a fisheries biologist in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and as a fisheries observer in Alaska. In his spare time Eric enjoys spearfishing, SCUBA diving, backpacking, running, and skiing.
