Stephen enjoys studying the effects of water and land use on freshwater and marine ecosystems, and the interface of science and the natural resource policy decisions it is meant to inform. Stephen has been involved in comprehensive watershed assessments, design and implementation of natural resource monitoring programs at multiple scales, and has co-authored several publications on instream habitat sampling methods, monitoring, and adaptive management. His expertise includes monitoring design, adaptive management, hydropower relicensing, timberland management for protection of fish and wildlife, water rights, and hydrology. In his off hours, he enjoys hiking the mountains and river valleys of the Northwest, or exploring the outer coast of British Columbia via kayak. His main indulgences include music and food.
