RIPPLE version 1.0, a powerful analytical tool to help define factors limiting coho salmon populations, was released on June 20, 2008. Created in partnership with the National Center for Earth-Surface Dynamics, RIPPLE is a digital-terrain-based model that integrates habitat requirements by life history stage with topographic and physical habitat characteristics to predict coho population dynamics for restoration and recovery planning.
The model can be downloaded at http://www.nced.umn.edu/ripple for academic and non-profit use. For more information about RIPPLE, click here.
