Restoration work featured at national conference
Stillwater staff presented several innovative studies, projects, and restoration planning approaches at the 3rd National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration (NCER) in Los Angeles, CA (July 20-24, 2009). Stillwater’s ecologists and restoration scientists presented on:
> Management and restoration of urban streams (Dr. Derek Booth)
> Using limiting factor analyses for sustainable ecosystem improvement (Dr. Pete Downs)
> Species response to levee habitat enhancement on the Sacramento River (Dr. Noah Hume)
> Effective restoration planning approaches (Zooey Diggory)
In addition, several posters were presented that feature the results of additional Stillwater studies and projects, including:
>A regional perspective on the ecology and management of steelhead in San Francisco Bay Area streams. [view poster]
>Meta-analysis of 32 riparian restoration sites in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys and the Delta. [view poster]
>Restoring ecological integrity in fragmented rivers: using analytical reference conditions to restore a dredged and regulated river-floodplain. [view poster]
>Restoration of a severely degraded landscape: revegetation of native riparian trees on floodplain dredge spoils in California's Central Valley. [view poster]
>Linking biological responses to river processes: a focal species approach to restoration and management of the Sacramento River. [view poster]
>Linking riparian vegetation dynamics with physical processes: a key step in developing restoration and management strategies for a semi-arid river and its floodplain. [view poster]
>Simulating sediment transport to evaluate dam removal restoration strategies. [view poster]
