Stillwater Sciences to conduct 10th and final year of rare plant monitoring along the Napa River

As a direct result of multiple flooding events in the Napa Valley, Measure A was approved in 1998 by the citizens of Napa County to fund the Napa River/Napa Creek Flood Protection Project.  In addition to minimizing future flood risks, this project focuses on restoration of the floodplain and riparian ecosystems of the Napa River. Two rare plant taxa of conservation concern, Lilaeopsis masonii (Mason’s lilaeopsis) and Lathyrus jepsonii var. jepsonii (Delta tule pea), were found in the project area during the initial implementation of the project, prompting an additional mitigation and monitoring plan for rare plants. Stillwater Sciences will conduct the 10th and final year of monitoring for rare plants species in the project area required by the Napa County Flood Control & Water Conservation District.
