Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated fisheries biologist/aquatic ecologist based in Berkeley or Davis to provide project and scientific support to our Davis, Arcata, Berkeley (CA) and Seattle (WA) offices. For information on Stillwater Sciences, please visit www.stillwatersci.com.
The biologist will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and analysis of aquatic habitat, fish and amphibian populations, and aquatic resources;
- Developing study designs for interdisciplinary projects;
- Planning scientific studies and managing study budgets and logistics;
- Conducting habitat evaluations, fish surveys, and amphibian surveys;
- Leading field crews
- Analyzing data;
- Participating in interdisciplinary teams for watershed assessment, resource inventory, impact analysis, and natural resource management planning projects;
- Writing technical report and proposal sections;
- Preparing environmental compliance documents;
- Conducting literature and database searches.
Qualified applicants should possess:
- MS in Fisheries Biology, Aquatic Ecology, or related field;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and data management skills.
- Proven ability to work well with groups;
- Prior experience in the environmental field;
- Interest in related environmental science disciplines;
- Ability to identify anadromous and resident fishes;
- Experience with some of the following: fish population and/or amphibian population sampling techniques, hydrological measurements, stream channel assessment, instream flow studies, macroinvertebrate community evaluation, river restoration & enhancement, aquatic habitat assessment, water quality measurements, CEQA/NEPA regulations.
